 h (Friday) from 6:30-9:00 PM! This is a new area for us to explore as a cl

 lashlights\, blacklights\, cameras\, containers\, good hiking shoes and cl
 othes\, bug spray\, and anything else you need to have a good time on the 
 trail. Please plan to arrive promptly by 6:15 PM to allow time for finding
  each other\, going over the rules and expectations\, and walking from whe
 re we park to the trails.\n\nCollecting is allowed on this trip\, though b

 rg/rules. Additionally\, before the hike we will go over the expectations 
 for responsible collecting\, husbandry\, and researching what you look for
  to collect before going into the field. I strongly recommend you take pic
 tures for iNaturalist and upload them with an obscured geotag after the hi

SUMMARY:California Botanic Garden (CalBG) Things That Go Bump in the Night
DESCRIPTION:This nocturnal-themed event at the California Botanic Garden is
  held into the evening at the garden\, exposing visitors to the world of b
 ats\, owls\, reptiles\, and\, of course\, invertebrates. This is our secon
 d year tabling at this event\, and we had an amazing time last year! CalBG
  is one of the few SoCal gardens that is comprised almost entirely of nati
 ve plants\, meaning we will have plenty of opportunities to observe wild i
 nvertebrates while we teach people about them.\n\nThis event is at the Cal
 ifornia Botanic Garden in Claremont on October 2nd-3rd (Fri-Sat) from 5:30
 -9:00 PM each night.\n\nVolunteers get free entry (parking is free). You a
 lso get to hang out with other invertebrate lovers and teach genuinely cur
 ious people\, and there are opportunities to see the garden itself and the

DESCRIPTION:STEPCon is the premier student STEM conference in the Inland Em
 pire! Participants can experience hands-on science experiments\, interacti
 ve technology exhibits and roundtable discussions\, watch an exciting Scie
 nce Show\, visit one-on-one with college educators and industry profession
 als\, and enjoy thrilling presentations and demonstrations from a variety 
 of exhibitors. The experience is targeted for 4th grade through 12th grade
  students.\n\nThe ICSC will be participating in this year's STEPCon\, shar
 ing a variety of invertebrates with Inland Empire students - and encouragi
 ng them to pursue interests in entomology and conservation\, either as a c
 areer or for personal enjoyment and enrichment.\n\nWe need volunteers who 
 can bring bugs to share with students - and share our enthusiasm for bugs 
 (and bug-related careers) with them. No bugs? No problem! We will have ple
 nty of bugs available\, but we also need people to help talk about them an
 d engage with students.

DESCRIPTION:Every year the EDNC hosts wildlife organizations for their fami
 ly Howl-O-Ween event to give visitors opportunities to interact with repti
 les\, birds\, invertebrates\, and other creatures. The ICSC has been tabli
 ng at this outreach since 2023\, and we've been able to teach hundreds of 
 people about invertebrates and help them overcome their fears by touching 
 a "bug" or snake each year. Come if you want to show people how scorpions 
 glow under black light\, help kids hold a cockroach\, and give out candy!\
 n\nThis event is at the El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach on Saturday\
 , October 17th from 2:00-6:00 PM.\n\nVolunteers get free parking (entry is
  free). You also get to hang out with other invertebrate lovers and teach 
 genuinely curious people\, and there are opportunities to see bees\, turtl
 es\, fish\, and birds at the other exhibitor booths. Oh\, and you get to d
 ress up as a bug and eat candy too!

  so bring an invertebrate-themed costume and be ready to talk about the wo
